Our Drives

Monday evening 19 - 22:45hrs : 'The Individual Club'
You play with seven different partners. This is the club, where our students start their career. The bidding system we teach them is therefore obliged. Because beginners are slower we play 21 games. There are no costs to participate. You will even get (just as at all our other drives) 5,-, 7,50 or 10,- Euro when you put yourself up as reserve!

Tuesday afternoon 12:30 - 16:30hrs : 'The Egg-nog Drive'
A Club where you will find relatively many strangers. People sometimes come and celebrate on this afternoon with its hilarious bridge drive. This club is not for curmudgeons, as the athmosphere is very lively. We play barometer. This is a tournament where all tables play the very same set of games at one time. The results are known within minutes and the winning couple gets an egg-nog with whipped cream. Participating will cost you € 5,-. A one-year memberfee costs € 92,40.

Wednesday evening 19 - 23hrs : 'The Winnersclub -Gay Prize Bridge-'
A cosy comfortable evening. The Butler score is used. Even when the famous football club Ajax is playing, we still have our four tables usually. Everybody bidding and making 7NT is invited to play once within three month after this happening. He, she or they don't have to pay the entrance fee of € 5,-. Bring a dated copy of the final result of that evening from your club with you please. A one-year memberfee costs € 92,40.

Thursday afternoon 12:30 - 17:30 : 'The Teadrive'
The club that offers free tea and biscuits. In between a set of games, smokers have to go to a different area to give in to their addiction. This smokersroom seems to be even more cosy than our playing floor. There will always be a partner for you to play with. Costs? € 5,-. A one-year memberfee costs € 92,40.

Thursday evening 19 - 23hrs : 'The Smokersclub'
The club where smoking is fully accepted, because everyone entering this evening smokes or knows there is smoking going on. It is our most popular evening. We usually host about sixty people. We play in two or three lines top integral. You can participate for € 5,- each. A one-year memberfee costs € 92,40.

Friday evening 19 - 23hrs : 'The Patton Club'
We play teams this evening, but we stop during june, july and august. Therefore a one-year memberfee costs € 50,--. If you are alone we will find you a partner, and a team. So you can come with four, three, two or by yourself we always will menage to accommodate you.

Every last Sunday of the month 12:45hrs : 'The Masterpointdrive'
Every last sunday of the month we play this drive. Also this afternoon someone is waiting for you. We play pairs. The costs are very limited: € 8,10.

Fridaynight Magic

On Friday evening a large section of the bridge cafe was not used. Wessel Oomens and Frits van Varik play bridge at the Looier bridge club, and they also play Magic. Wessel is a very strong player: he is the number five player of the Netherlands. He once won a tournament in Sweden, with prize money of € 40,000,00. As a Magic player Frits is past his peak.
After an evening of playing bridge, having had a few drinks, Wessel and Frits came up with the idea of introducing Friday Night Magic to the Looier. Wessel would like to work at the Looier and Frits works in ‘The Gamekeeper’ - a specialist store for games where the Magic cards are sold. It soon became clear that it had not just been drunken talk. Wessel and Frits got down to business and the next day, the brochures with our own joker on it as the logo were printed. Wessel got his circuit involved and Frits informed people through the ‘The Gamekeeper’ that, from now on, Friday Night was Magic Night at the Looier. As a result, we now have eight young people playing Magic in the Looier on Friday night. Magic is a game that appeals to the young.
